Honeybee Hive Hosting/Rentals

The ultimate way to Bee the Change! Purchase a 2-year hive plan, and we will install the requested amount of hives on site. For optimal success for your colonies, it's ideal to rent at least two hives. First, we will make a complimentary visit to inspect the area to make sure it’s suitable for both you and the bees. From there, we will install the hives, and then you sit back and relax! Depending on the time of year, we will stop by on a weekly to monthly basis to inspect the hives and ensure the bees are healthy and happy. Further, we will provide detailed reports on your hives so you know exactly how they're progressing throughout the year. Every spring, if your colony has excess honey, you will receive a honey harvest to enjoy all year long. As a rule, though, we do not harvest any honey from a first year colony. Hive rentals also include education opportunities for you and/or your employees. Ask us about native bee services as well! Contact Us for plan rates and options!

An Alternative: Solitary Bee Hotel Installations

If you don’t have space for a honeybee hive, your local municipality doesn't allow beekeeping residentially, or you are operating on a small budget, you can still support the bees with attractive solitary bee hotels. Native bees do not produce honey or require any specialized maintenance from a beekeeper, which makes them perfect for anybody looking for a simple way to support pollinators. Native bees are even less likely to sting than their docile honey cousins, and  are more effective pollinators; the true underdogs!  Reserve a solitary bee hotel in the winter and watch these super pollinators fly by spring!

Unable to rent or adopt? Here are ways you can still Bee the Change in your community on the cheap:
  • Beautify your yard by planting a bee garden, using a variety of pollinator friendly flowers that provide blooms all season long. Need suggestions? Feel free to contact us for suggestions!
  • Grow an organic, chemical free vegetable garden - Reduce your monthly food bills and provide forage for your local pollinators at the same time.
  • Install a bird bath in your yard. It may be intended for the birds, but the bees will love it too! Just be sure to add rocks or sticks for the bees to land on.
  • Install native bee and other pollinator habitats in your yard - it's as easy as some wood with drilled holes
  • Encourage neighbors to avoid use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and neonecticides.
  • Don’t pull the weeds - even if it’s just in the backyard where no one can see them – this allows them to flower and provide forage for your local pollinators.
  • Support your local beekeeper - In the mood for honey or other bee products? Buy local!
  • Support your local, organic farmers, who do not use harmful chemicals and instead utilize bee friendly practices. This also helps boost your local economy too.
  • Encourage local business, big and small, to provide bee friendly products. Many individuals who wish to help pollinators will purchase flowers from their local hardware stores… not knowing that the flowers are sprayed with neonecticides.. This ends up killing the bees they wished to help. Ask before you buy!
